On Stranger Tides
As most everyone on Twitter knows, the San Diego Comic Con has been going on for the past however-many days. I would love to attend Comic Con, and might actually get a chance when it’s makes its way here to Austin, Texas in November. Obviously lots of sneak-peek trailers are being released, and I recently saw a teaser trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides that a fan in the crowd filmed and has put up on YouTube for all to see! Hopefully it won’t get pulled down quickly for copyright violation as these things tend to be. It’s not technically a teaser trailer, as it’s just Jack talking about his adventure to find the fountain of youth. Check it out, and turn your speakers down in prep for the screaming fans!

New CRP Website Up
It took me a while, but I finally finished up the new Crimson Rose Productions website. Before it was just a single page with the logo front and center, now we have an about us page, a merch page, and even a projects page! Okay, okay, there’s nothing extremely special about it. But if you tried to donate with the Kickstarter project that was up a up a few months back and still would like to support the films Crimson Rose makes, check out the Merch page. Some of the same items that were offered in return for donations are now available there.

I’ve never actually bought a CD at the Renaissance festival before, and I hope to change that soon. There are great musicians performing at the faires and I would love to support them and be able to listen to their music at home! But since I haven’t actually bought any, I make do listening to songs that are on this list as well as a few others that remind me of eras past. My dear hubby the Captain has gotten himself into a duel set for July 24 as a part of an event for Knights of the Guild. His character is supposed to be a nobleman, and so he decided that he will wear the outfit I made him for our wedding. He told me this. My response: “Um. No. I’m making you a new vest that you can sword fight in. You’re not messing up your wedding vest!” Or at least that’s what went through my head,
I don’t remember the words that actually came out of my mouth. So the past couple of days I’ve spent working with Simplicity’s PotC pirate costume pattern, the red vines fabric, as well as some black satin. Since I only keep on hand any buttons that I have a project for, I had to make an order for more and am now waiting on the buttons to be shipped to me. After I have it all together, I’ll post up some pictures of it!
I’ve almost completed the first Bridal Mini Cloak, there are only a few stitches left to it. It’s made in the ivory vines fabric with the most gorgeous purple satin lining. The clasp on it is a beautiful gold plated pewter Victorian style clasp. Again, photos once it’s completed and when I have someone during the daylight hours that can photograph me with my bridal gown and the cloak.
In news of Hair Jewels, I’ve taken some new photos of the Long Pirate Hair Jewels that will start appearing in the Etsy listings today. Maybe they’ll be more likely to appear on the front page or in articles this way. Maybe. Eh, probably not, but at least I’m trying! Back to the subject of Hair Jewels, I will soon be making a few sets of Pirate Hair Jewels to sell. They’ll consist of three strands of different lengths, and the sets will cost less than if you were to buy the strands individually. One strand out of the set will be a Specialty strand. Look for those to be in the shop by the end of August.
I did have a small power outage in my apartment yesterday that knocked out my internet for most of the night. I took the opportunity to go through some old photos and play a bit in photoshop. Here’s a small sample of what I did, click the image to go to the DeviantArt page.

A new lens
During college, I realized that I would need a digital SLR camera for my photography to have better control of my photos than I had with the five megapixel Pentax Optio point and shoot I bought while I worked at the local camera shop. I ended up getting a Nikon D50 right before they were discontinued. It’s been a great camera for me, and I take all of my photos with it. But over the years of use for college and everything else, my main lens got knocked around too much. The manual focus loosened, and I’ve had trouble focusing with it since.
I started looking for prices on the same lens on all the photography supply websites I have bookmarked, only to not find my lens. Apparently they aren’t actually made anymore. Since it’s a bit hard to do photography jobs with a lens that doesn’t work properly, my dad found the lens I need on eBay that had yet to be used and bought it for me. I got it in the mail today and decided to try it out on a necklace I just put together for one of my best friends. The focus works wonderfully, as you can tell by the pic! The necklace has two rose quartz pendants as well as a small iolite pendant.
